This work stems from my experience of helping friends evacuate artworks at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. That moment made me rethink the materials I work with—I started looking for something lighter, more compact, easier to transport.
I created this piece on layered paper so that, if necessary, I could simply roll it up and carry it elsewhere.
The painting shows a fragment of my dormitory room—the space where I live. Because the material is mobile, I can take this work with me and recreate a familiar environment in a new place, turning it into a small island of stability and safety.
For me, the interior of a room is not just a collection of personal memories—it also reflects how we perceive and relate to space. This work helps me explore the feeling of loss that comes with displacement. It is a way to search for new forms of comfort and security in unstable, ever-changing circumstances—something that has become especially urgent in times of forced migration.
