The exhibition “Our Years, Our Words, Our Losses, Our Searches, Our Us” accompanied the opening of the art center on November 18, 2023 and was the first large-scale exhibition in the history of the Jam Factory Art Center. The exhibition presents the works of Ukrainian artists from 2022-2023 and a longer chronology—from the 19th century to the present.
Full curatorial introduction
"Karina Synytsia works with urban spaces inhabited by unsupervised children, solitary wanderers, lovers, ice cream vendors, and admirers of reinforced concrete architecture. These landscapes exist in various states of decay, yet fragments of hope persist within them.
Regarding "Fast, Easy Memory Transfer", Synytsia writes: "It is impossible to remember all the rooms you have lived in and all the beds you have slept in. But that only makes it easier to keep moving, leaving not even a speck of dust behind." In contrast to monumental structures, the recreated dormitory room in this work rolls up like a weightless scroll of kraft paper, moving from place to place alongside the artist".
